It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Then the cost/benefit factor is not really justified – it would have been better to simply make the upper floor a bit larger and save on waterproofing and so on. (Plus possibly problems with leaks at some point?)

Or is it no longer that expensive or comparable to the issues with older flat roofs?

At least it looks good.

It is purely for aesthetics. My wife’s requirement was a flat roof only if no block-shaped structure is built. From the floor plan perspective, this setback on the south side and the overhang on the east side make sense. Of course, cost-effectiveness is crucial.

How wide is it? A floor-to-ceiling window like that can be installed quickly.
