Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Today the tiler started with the floor.... (not grouted yet)

We have those in 30cm x 60cm (12 inches x 24 inches) in the hallway

And you can see the common mistake of simply cutting off the edge insulation strips.

I don’t see any at all, probably because they were cut off? What would be the proper way? You can hardly leave them standing.

Yes, the edge insulation strips must remain in place until the grouting is completed to prevent the floor from bonding with the wall. Only after grouting can the insulation strip be cut off and removed or melted back to fill the joint between the baseboard/wall and the floor with an elastic sealant.

Yes, that’s always something people like to complain about. On the other hand, it’s been years since I last saw a floor covering laid right up against the wall. The installer would have to be pretty careless for that to happen. They can simply leave a gap of about 1cm (0.4 inches) and that’s it.

Yes, that was the painter; I wanted to have him done before the tiler.

Do I need to be worried now?
