Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

For fixed glazing on the upper floor, I wonder how the window will be cleaned from the outside?

Fixed glazing on the upper floor can only be cleaned from the outside, right!

Unlike fixed glazing on the ground floor?

I also really like the idea of the window seat. We’ll see if we can integrate that well in our home...

In the upper floor, I have to be about 3.5 m (11.5 ft) tall to clean. On the ground floor, I just stand in front of it.

On the upper floor, we have fixed glazing, but only where the carport is in front, so you can clean the window while standing on the carport’s roof. The two sitting-height windows we have on the upper floor can be opened normally (and therefore cleaned) without any problems.

When it comes to a bay window seat, it certainly depends on what the neighboring properties look like. Our view would be rather plain, facing the neighbor’s gable or their front garden.

And we have the bay window precisely because it offers an unobstructed view to the west over fields and forest.

Regarding window cleaning... yes, we know it’s not easy. But for that, there is a ladder, after all, the window is not cleaned every week. Twice a year, we hire a professional who cleans all our panes for 150.-€. It’s worth it to us!
