Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

oh great... with decorative trim and a lintel arch <3 that’s so nice. Are you getting (fake) muntin windows?

My wife especially insisted on that. It’s also implemented above the gable at the entrance and on the side facing the street. I really like it too.

The muntins are currently under discussion and should be decided by the weekend at the latest. The window manufacturer is visualizing the options for us, both with and without muntins.

Internal muntins are off the table. They look like masking tape and negatively affect the energy performance. Applied muntins are a possibility. Since we are getting double casement windows, I’m not quite convinced yet. In my mind, whether with a false mullion or a central mullion, it still seems too detailed.

Window seats ... can anyone share practical experience? I think this is more of a hype. Even modern triple glazing isn’t something you want pressing against your neck in winter. It might only get “cozy warm” with a blanket or a fireplace…?!

You don’t actually sit with your back directly against the window, but rather against the right or left reveals. I believe this has little to do with hype and is more about reviving an old tradition. My grandfather’s 500-year-old farmhouse had something like this too, although in a different design and construction method….

And twice a year we have someone professionally clean all our windows for 150.-€.

The price does not include the scaffold builder.

Here is the view in the evening from 9 p.m.:

And how much of that view is unobstructable?

Nothing can be built on that land for the next 20 years because it borders the municipality and there is still room for at least two more housing developments, but who knows—maybe I won't even be alive next year... Who cares...

And who in their right mind would set up scaffolding just to clean the windows? A ladder is enough and that's that...

It depends on the width whether you can reach everywhere by leaning from next to it.

On my next walk through the cemetery, I'll have to wonder whose survivors might enjoy a nice window seat.

Hello,

I am new here and was asked to share a photo.

Our house is 190m² (2,045 sq ft), with Dutch gables on both sides.

Brickwork and conservatory will be added later... we are sticking to the "Nordic style," just not the complete package right away...

Planning started in 2017
Construction began in February 2018
Move-in planned for early October 2018

House in shell construction stage with dark tiled roof, windows, construction mound in front of green area
