Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Unfortunately, some water got in again last night due to the rain. It entered through the kitchen bay window’s canopy, apparently reached the Halox junction box, then dripped onto the floor and went down through the cable duct into the technical room below. This is how it looks there now. The electrical panel was lifted off the floor and mounted higher to prevent any damage. The roofer will come next week to finally finish the flat roofs.

Currently, the flat roof above the garage has been temporarily sealed with a waterproof slurry.

Otherwise, the underfloor heating is now completely installed, and the screed installer will come tomorrow. The underfloor heating really looks good, in my opinion. I just hope that the heating control valves don’t get damaged or start to rust due to the water intrusion.

Without knowing any statistics, a window seat probably only makes sense in 0.00001% of cases, provided the plot allows it. Otherwise, it’s just a pointless bearded hipster trend.

Strange theory. Who came up with that?
I would definitely disagree. A window seat is always nice if you have the space, even if it’s just in front of the laundry area.

Oh man, how long can you really debate about a window like this?!

Just let him and his family do it their way. I think it’s a cool idea. We only clean our windows twice a year, and so far we’re doing fine.
If you don’t want to become a slave to your property at some point, you just have to learn to take it easy.
And as long as all the surrounding homes in the neighborhood aren’t finished with their landscaping, washing the windows is basically pointless anyway...

I also really like window seats, but unfortunately I can’t fit one sensibly into the floor plan. Otherwise, I would have included one as well.

Until a few minutes ago, I didn’t even know about window seats. Stylish and a nice change!

You’re actually contributing to the debate yourself... And no one is trying to talk him out of it, it’s obviously his choice.

Yes, I hope so too, fingers crossed for you!
