Hello,

we are considering installing carpet in the bedroom. It is simply more comfortable when barefoot. Does anyone have experience with the efficiency of underfloor heating in this case? Does the carpet act as an insulator, or does it allow the heat to pass through fully?

I hope you’re not serious about this?

Kind regards

Good morning,
Did you want to cover the entire room? Wouldn’t it work better with smaller rugs, runners, or even faux fur pieces?

Installing wall-to-wall carpeting is not a good idea. It simply doesn’t work. If you approach it logically, you will quickly understand why.

I’m not in favor of reviving old threads if no one is interested.
But here’s a question for @knalle: why do you come to such a conclusion and make that statement?
Most carpets are designed to be compatible with underfloor heating!

I don’t find this topic uninteresting at all... Contrary to the frequently expressed opinion here that large-area carpets are not suitable for underfloor heating, you can find a huge selection of floor coverings suitable for underfloor heating both online and in specialty stores. So why shouldn’t it work?

Mistake No. 5: “You can’t install carpet over underfloor heating.” This is a common misconception. Small rugs or runners are no problem with underfloor heating. Enthusiasts of large carpeted floors can even find a wide range of floor coverings specifically designed for floors with underfloor heating in specialty stores. However, it is important to pay close attention to the corresponding symbol.
