Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

As is often the case, it’s a matter of personal preference. I also think there’s nothing better than a wooden floor, but when you have small children, you a) only enjoy it for a short time and b) have a little breakdown every time there’s a scratch or dent.

We had three different types of wood flooring over the past 20 years, and now we’ve switched to tiles. With a dog, the parquet floor scratched very quickly, and it wasn’t that easy to clean since it was oiled. The often-mentioned “patina” didn’t look that good, either. I like the tiles much more now—they are easy to clean and the dog’s nails don’t cause any damage.

Kind regards

@Climbee the floor looks great! We also have three-layer panels with white glaze (also from Woca) on the upper floor, and it actually looks much brighter than in the photo. But I would like it like that too.

I highly recommend the Woca spray and all their other products! I use them as well (wood soap and oils).

It’s quite easy to see at a glance from the forest that the house is located near the woods.

Beautiful, hampshire! Do you get sunlight during the day, or does the forest mostly block it?

So, yesterday the cutting workshop was finally moved to the upper floor, and the sun came out in the evening: this gave a really nice impression of the ground floor.

I also asked about the manufacturer of our flooring: "Holzhandel Glück - Naturholzböden" from Odelzhausen.

Wood is great; I would love to have a wooden windowsill in my room. Maybe later.

I find wood-look tiles... unattractive.

Today, the carpenter was here, and our cupboard under the stairs is finished except for small details (baseboards, etc.).

On the far right, there is a drawer under the bench that extends all the way to the back wall – it should fit all the shoes.

To the left of the display cabinet are my Lego houses; it can be fully opened, and behind it there is space for coats and plenty of shelving behind that:

@Buchweizen: Thank you. The house faces south. It gets sunlight from early morning until evening. The forest blocks the last hours of the evening sun, which you can then see on the hillside opposite, and the covered terrace has a heater to keep it from getting cold.
Today the scaffolding was taken down, and you can finally see the house.

From the start of the driveway = street level

And the west side with an exit from the kitchen area just before the stone retaining wall:

Inside, a section of an oak trunk, which was still standing in the forest three weeks ago, has been installed as a support for the middle beam.
