Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The lack of your outdoor landscaping is obvious to everyone, even to the blind. I don't know your detailed solution yet, but let's see what you come up with. A masonry wall with plaster would have broken up the monotony. We have the same problem in front of the terrace of the granny flat. Back then, we quickly had lightweight concrete blocks installed, and now I have to hide them because they simply look ridiculous.

I have coated ours. It looks much better visually, all RAL colors are available, and you can spray it, wipe it off, etc. This definitely brightens up the overall appearance. It’s available at GFK Tec here in town. It’s as fluid as a primer and is really difficult to paint because it splatters like crazy :-(

Perfection isn’t always possible... Post everything about your house, and I guarantee someone will say the same thing.

Criticism is fine, but your comment comes across as a bit rude.

There is space between the two sections for some plants, so at least the wall below can be visually improved. Under the balcony itself, that won’t work. But for now, that is our least concern. A more attractive natural stone wall wasn’t possible there because we simply don’t have enough space in width – the L-shaped blocks take up significantly less space in depth.

We are considering possibly cladding the admittedly not very attractive concrete walls with natural stone at some point. However, that’s really something I’ll think about in two to three years, when I have a lot of free time and feel the need for a creative project.

The stairs themselves are granite, so they remain safe to walk on, even when wet.

The scaffolding is now only halfway up the house, and the wooden facade on the south side is completed. I took some photos from the viaduct, which is illuminated until about 11:00 PM. We stayed overnight in the motorhome on the property and captured this view without a tripod. You can clearly see from this perspective in the forest how close the house is to the woodland.

It’s cinematic enough to serve as a filming location; the title could be "Modern King Seeks His Queen".
