Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

A lot has happened on our construction site this week, but you can't really see it yet.

Sewer work (the old sewer line had to be relocated because it would have run under our house otherwise; our sewer line needed to be installed):

Deep excavation pit with green pipe along the wall, construction equipment and tent in the background.

Insulation for the foundation slab was delivered:

Construction site with pink insulation boards, blue portable toilet, and construction vehicles

Drainage was installed:

Construction site with excavation pit, geotextile membranes, earthworks, and excavator in the foundation area

We also now have the house connection (the black nipple sticking out of the ground), and everything else has been backfilled:

Small construction site with mini-excavator in a pit, soil, membranes, and construction tools visible.

Next, the pipes for the ground source heat pump with soil activation will be installed (these will be placed under the foundation slab), followed by the foundation slab itself.

Delivery of the components for the wooden basement is planned for September 21; the wooden basement should be erected on September 22 (they will also be working on Saturday morning).

Living room facing south with glass front, kitchen facing north. How does your heat pump manage without a bypass valve so that the living room doesn’t get excessively warm and the kitchen doesn’t become too cold?

A properly adjusted underfloor heating system in a modern energy-efficient house has such low supply temperatures that, in this scenario, a heating system without a bypass valve will tend to cool the living room and transfer the "excess" energy to the cooler kitchen.

I am very satisfied with my gas condensing boiler without ERR.

@Climbee You are building with a basement and the utility connections are brought into the house from below? Is there a particular reason for that? I imagine it wouldn't be exactly cheap.

Yesterday, the precast ceiling panels were delivered to our site.

Construction site with concrete walls and reinforcing steel on foundation

Unfortunately, the installation boxes were not included in the delivery. Now there are just holes. The reinforcement was supposed to be installed today, and I planned to lay the conduits over the weekend. The in-situ concrete was scheduled for Tuesday.
Of course, none of this will be possible now.
