Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Wow... why aren’t the ceiling panels resting on the blocks at the front?

@Climbee You’re building with a basement and the utility connections are routed into the house from below? Is there a specific reason for that? I imagine that wouldn’t be cheap.

To be honest, I’m not exactly sure. We pay a fixed price for the connections, and it didn’t seem excessively high to me. I’m also not certain if the connections actually run through the concrete slab; the excavation was larger because the sewer line also had to be installed. So the building pit is clearly bigger than the slab. It’s possible that the connection is next to the house. I can’t tell exactly from the pictures; I’ll check again this evening. We also have a wooden floor slab, so maybe it’s not that complicated there? I have to admit, I really don’t know.

They don’t have to when there is proper connecting reinforcement, which is missing here though...

Thank you for the kind words.

The carpenter is working hard... We are already in love with our new favorite corner... :-*

Interior finish: renovated living space with built-in shelves, ladder, and tools.

I take that as a compliment, thank you very much!

After all the long planning, seeing it like this now is quite overwhelming... but in a positive way!
