Hi,
if this spot is really below ground level, that’s... less than ideal. The electrician at my place also wanted to do something similar and was still upset that I didn’t go for it.
Penetrations should either be clearly above the final ground level or placed at least 50cm (20 inches) below, properly sealed with a Doymer or a similar type of sealing. Anything in between is poor workmanship and will cause you problems!

Have it corrected!
Best regards,
Andreas

A lot has happened again. Wow, things are really progressing well for you. I’m glad to hear that! By the way, how are the interior walls connected to the precast concrete exterior wall panels? Mortar adhesive system (MAS)? Or are they simply aligned flush? Wishing you continued success and steady progress on the build!
Construction has actually started for us, too. The inspection shafts have been installed, and when the workers were exposing the wastewater sewer connection, they unintentionally (but fortunately for us quite cost-effectively) drained the entire foundation pit. I don’t think the wastewater treatment plant in the neighboring town found it very funny that a surge of about 50,000 liters (13,208 gallons) rushed through... They were quite shaken and came out to the construction site to figure out where it came from.
The earthworks contractor isn’t really at fault here; they just relied on the municipality’s sewer plans and the elevation levels shown there. It just turned out that the wastewater sewer connection was deeper than indicated on the plans, which was unfortunate—or actually good for us.
Hello 11ant,
No, it will not be a recessed gable roof. It has now become a standard gable roof with a 25-degree pitch.
Well, the vacation was planned long ago, even before it was clear when things would finally start. Since my parents live only about 500 meters (550 yards) from our building site and are retired, I’m not worried about missing progress photos…
We already had enough sleepless nights during the planning phase. According to our architect, construction of the shell should continue midweek. Luckily, since our architect regularly visits the site, I’m not too concerned about the roughly three “missed days.”

Did you also hire your architect for construction supervision? If so, I would strongly assume that they are doing their job and visiting the site daily. It currently sounds like this might be a goodwill gesture from the architect.
In our case, our architect has been stopping by once or twice daily so far. We have just completed the excavation and installation of inspection chambers, but I have no doubt that they will manage things differently during the next phases of construction.
Wishing you continued good luck and success with your build, and have a great vacation.
Hello ruppsn,
yes, our architect is also responsible for construction supervision and regularly visits the site, so I am less worried about that. That was one of the reasons we chose her.
However, there are certainly architects who do not handle it the same way as yours. At least, that’s what I have heard from other homeowners.
Wishing you all the best with your building project as well.
