Hello everyone,

Can someone recommend a simple camera or mobile phone that allows me to quickly take a photo in the workshop or on the construction site?

Ideally, it should be possible to send the picture immediately by email or upload it to some kind of cloud service.
The camera or mobile phone should be completely dustproof and affordable!

I find a smartphone a bit too much and too expensive for this purpose.

Does anyone have a tip?

Just use your regular smartphone. You don’t need a separate camera with an online connection for that. This is how most people do it on the construction site—not only for small single-family homes.

Thanks – my $1000 smartphone is too valuable for that (even with a protective case!)
and
I might want to provide one to my colleagues as well.

Like I said, a simple photo from the construction site is enough; I don’t need a super high-resolution picture.
For example: a resolution of 1024 x 768 is sufficient.

Thanks for the tip.

Then you’ll probably need to buy an outdoor smartphone with a SIM card for your use if you’re too reluctant to use your own smartphone. Personally, I don’t understand that – you just take a few photos and then put it away.

Colleagues are also provided with an outdoor smartphone and a mobile phone contract. But that also comes with monthly costs…

Now the question is: What exactly do you do and what do you need these devices for? Are you a construction worker, property owner, inspector, or site supervisor? A manager who lets the team work? All of these have different requirements.

A smartphone today is basically a camera with internet connectivity and a built-in phone function. Surely there are also internet-enabled cameras available for similar prices. My DSLR is also dustproof and connected to the internet via my smartphone – but for you, that would probably be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Currently, I am a property owner—my father-in-law (retired and former master bricklayer) and I are building.
A smartphone is too complicated for my father-in-law.
A simple mobile phone for a few pictures will be enough.

Otherwise, I am a hobby glassblower and have set up a small workshop with colleagues.

Just buy a second-hand phone or tablet. Or even a small, traditional camera. The market is full of these functional but outdated devices.
