Hello everyone,
Can someone recommend a simple camera or mobile phone that allows me to quickly take a photo in the workshop or on the construction site?
Ideally, it should be possible to send the picture immediately by email or upload it to some kind of cloud service.
The camera or mobile phone should be completely dustproof and affordable!
I find a smartphone a bit too much and too expensive for this purpose.
Does anyone have a tip?

A smartphone is too complicated for the father-in-law.Then you won’t have internet or cloud access either. So it’s either a dedicated camera or you use an old smartphone with a SIM card. For my part, I just take all the pictures with my phone. Usually, you’re not right next to the dusty work, so quick snaps on the beach are more likely to be an issue. But my Moto G8 cost well under 1000€ (about $1,050).
What I also find useful are photos taken with a drone. I probably wouldn’t buy one just for that, but it definitely offers a different perspective.

Currently, the project owners are my father-in-law (a retiree and former master bricklayer) and me. We are building together. So there’s no heavy-duty use for any devices. That’s why I don’t understand the question about needing a special device. Every smartphone has to endure more in daily life and on vacation than just taking some photos on a construction site. There’s no significant dust exposure either. It’s just a simple house build.
Just use your smartphone and take photos for your father-in-law. If he doesn’t know much about technology anyway, he doesn’t really need it.

Stromfresser20 Sep 2022 09:04Thanks @SaniererNRW123, you’re kind of right.
I’ll go ahead and buy an affordable smartphone then.

I don’t understand the problem. Just use your smartphone.
I did the same, even while grinding concrete. Nothing happens to it.
Do you also leave it at home when you go on vacation? Your car just sits in the garage and doesn’t get driven either?…
If you’re overly cautious, just use an Otterbox case.

So, take photos with the iPhone (an iPhone 7 for under 100€ is enough), they then automatically upload to the cloud (which you have access to). Even my 80-year-old mom can do it 😉Thanks, sounds good – I'll take a look.
