Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

OSB boards act as a vapor retarder or vapor barrier. This means that any moisture beneath the OSB board cannot pass through. For this reason, it is generally recommended to include a ventilation layer between the insulation and the OSB boards, or to use tongue and groove boards instead of OSB, since tongue and groove boards allow moisture to pass through. These are my basic understandings as a non-expert. I’m not sure if this is different with concrete ceilings.
Did you install it yourselves or have it installed?

Our company did the installation. I hope they know what they’re doing.
I will check by hand underneath the next time I visit.

@sirhc: That’s quite a lot of insulation in the roof slopes! Is the plaster on the ring beam still damp?

Yes, the plaster in front of the masonry and the base plate is quite dry, but at the level of the ring beam it is still not. The heating will be switched on early next week, so it should dry out by then.

So… the kitchen is slowly coming together. Once the missing section of the countertop finally arrived, I was able to install the sink and the LeMans corner cabinet right away. Over the weekend, I’ll finish the remaining trim and baseboards.
Only the dishwasher front still has to wait because a technician needs to come first. It’s a new Bosch model with all sorts of features, but it doesn’t clean the dishes properly… oops.

Despite some criticism that a “dead corner” is more economical, I really like the LeMans pull-out. Previously, we stored the pots in an 80cm (31½ inches) drawer, but the LeMans makes access from all sides much more comfortable.

I’m also very happy with the sink—finally, it’s possible to fit a full baking sheet inside!

I’m currently adjusting the lighting to warm white. At first, I wanted neutral white in the kitchen, but that didn’t work well with the open-plan living and dining area. The different color temperatures were bothering me there.

The large oak dining table will be moving in soon as well…

Several blue pots with glass lids and a frying pan in an open kitchen cabinet.

Modern kitchen faucet with flexible pull-out over stainless steel inset sink in gray countertop.

Modern kitchen: white lower cabinets, wooden upper cabinets, island with cooktop, sink by the window.

Looks good, but a sink without a draining board wouldn’t work for me. We often leave items there to dry or place used dishes that still need to be washed. What kind of tiles are those? I really like them!

Best regards
