Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Why are the edge stones in the walkway set with a slope, while in the (I assume) driveway they are stepped, instead of being consistent in both places?
The slope in the driveway is steeper than on the walkway – the stones would have to be laid at a much sharper angle, which, according to the landscape gardener, would look unattractive. I will upload the next pictures this evening, so you can see more.

This is how it looked again yesterday evening. Probably finished today......

So the wall is back up.

Does the backfill material look like a gravel-sand mix to you? According to the soil expert, that is what should be used for backfilling.

What purpose do these wall sections serve? And what material are they made of?

So, the paving is done – the slabs will be swept and compacted tomorrow, but it’s already great not to have to walk through mud around the house anymore.

The driveway will be completed tomorrow as well.

Paved walkway made of gray square slabs next to a white house; cable remnants visible.

We finally had water in the basement today. On Monday, electricity and telecommunications (fiber optic) were connected through the multi-utility connection. Last night and this morning it rained. Around midday, we noticed water in the excavation pit and decided to take a look. Water was already dripping in quite a bit.

At 1 p.m. (one hour later), the utility company arrived. It was then found that the telecommunications connection wasn’t securely screwed in, which allowed rainwater to flow out of the pit [emoji35]. Fortunately, we discovered it right away.
