Hello everyone,

We are currently planning our new build and are wondering if it makes sense to skip the telecommunications connection.
We have been using cable broadband for years and don’t really need a connection from the telecom provider.
Is there any reason not to do this?
Thank you very much for your opinions.

Good luck

Telekom costs 400.
You don’t have to use it right away, but if you do, you can choose between different providers.
Cable BW, on the other hand, is always a monopoly for you. Who knows how tariff models and technology will develop in each case.
I would invest in the 400.

We had our internet and phone with Unitymedia as well (this is the name for Kabel BW in NRW). We were very dissatisfied with the telephone connection. There were frequent interruptions after a short time, sometimes leading to complete disconnections. I was relieved that I could cancel the contract early when we moved into our own home. I would recommend checking in your future building area if anyone already has experience with Kabel BW... I would keep the 400€ for a possible alternative open.

Hello,
We live only about 200 meters (220 yards) away in a straight line and have had Cable BW for 4 years. It works perfectly.
But that’s true. What’s 400 euros in the overall amount?

You can save 400 euros now, but you reduce the value of your house by 1,000-2,000 euros because eventually a potential buyer will say there is no telecommunications connection...

Well, to be honest, I don’t think anyone will care about this in a few years. Eventually, everything will be done via mobile networks. Just look at the USA.
