Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

...especially when asking how the heating load calculation was addressed...

@ruppsn & Matthew11

The general contractor (GC) didn’t have any excuse; he apparently didn’t have the installation plan on hand (which was actually commissioned on time by the main contractor and well prepared by the heating system manufacturer), but I did. He quietly corrected it on Monday morning after receiving the defect report by email on Saturday. I’m satisfied and won’t pursue it further. The main thing is that everything is now okay and the errors haven’t already been covered by the screed.

I probably shouldn’t even have to mention that my GC (who supposedly builds about 15 houses a year) has the level of organization of a poorly run fast-food joint. That’s exactly why I opted for construction supervision… Thank goodness I did. Everything’s fine now.

Since yesterday, the main contractor has been working again on the exterior landscaping.
Despite a renewed tender process, they were by far the most affordable.
One bidder proposed a completion date at the end of 2019, and another asked for 2.5 times as much as our main contractor.
The bulk of the work should be finished in about two weeks; we’re really looking forward to it.

This is how it looked again last night. It was probably completed today......

So the wall is standing again.

Does the backfill material look like a gravel-sand mixture to you? According to the soil expert, it should be backfilled with such a material.

I spent the last two days with friends and a mini excavator building our hillside retaining wall along the road using natural stone...

The pieces weigh between 60 and 300 kg (130 and 660 lbs), and now that I’m lying on the sofa, everything hurts.

At the same time, all the flower beds were installed, and tomorrow the paving will be done. By the end of the week, topsoil will be spread, and the exterior landscaping will be far enough along for us to complete the rest ourselves.

Why are the curbstones in the walkway set with a slope, while those in the (I assume) driveway are stepped, instead of being consistent in both places?
