TolentinoAlthough I am building in the capital city (yes, really in Berlin itself), there will be no decent DSL available at my construction site (max. 6 Mbit). So far, I have been considering either Vodafone cable (although I haven’t received an offer yet) or Telekom hybrid.
Until now, I was leaning towards cable. But reports about complete outages in the evening and disadvantages due to shared bandwidth are making me reconsider whether I should go with Telekom after all.
What are the pros and cons of these two technologies?
Side question: Other traditional DSL providers like 1&1 or O2 are offering me higher speeds up to 50 Mbit. Is that even possible if Telekom only promises 6 Mbit? As far as I know, they don’t have their own lines but use Telekom’s infrastructure, right?
Thanks and best regards

LTE is ultimately shared as well. It can vary greatly depending on weather, other users, time of day, and other factors. When choosing, I might consider cable, even though I strongly dislike it.
If the owner of the line only offers you 6 Mbps, the other resellers won’t be able to provide more either. They will also initiate a bandwidth test later on, which will show the same result as with Telekom.

I have been using the Telekom hybrid connection for two years now, with almost a year of continuous usage due to working from home, and so far I have no complaints. Recently, I received advertising from Telekom in the mailbox stating that speeds above 6 Mbit should now finally be possible, but since I’m not experiencing any significant issues, I haven’t looked into it yet...
Are the experiences with Vodafone cable really that bad? They would install a 1 Gbit/s connection for us, while Telekom offers 250 Mbit/s DSL since there is no fiber optic available yet. I didn’t really want to install both, so I was leaning towards Vodafone, even though the installation costs are a bit higher. It would just be unfortunate if after a few months we wanted Telekom after all.
I have had mostly negative experiences in numerous projects. Cancellations, poor performance, no IPv4 availability with some plans, and so on. I would not recommend it to anyone. Of course, these could also be unfortunate isolated cases.
