Hello everyone,

We are currently planning our new build and are wondering if it makes sense to skip the telecommunications connection.
We have been using cable broadband for years and don’t really need a connection from the telecom provider.
Is there any reason not to do this?
Thank you very much for your opinions.

Good luck

I can take a look at the quote documents this evening.

Although,... now that I think about it again, it’s quite possible that I’m mixing up the telecom connection with the cable provider’s connection...

I’ll check it out tonight and report back...

The installation inside the house costs just under 400. The connection outside the house is around the same. It doesn’t matter when it’s done, whether they place it in the open connection trench now or have to dig up the front yard completely in two years. Therefore, you can also have it retrofitted when you need it.

Are there any documents or evidence to support this?

Information from Deutsche Telekom AG.

However, nothing further happened on my end because Telekom then realized that no cables had been laid in our construction area, as it is already covered by LTE...

With DSL, you always have the guaranteed bandwidth.

But with DSL, nothing is actually guaranteed. As they say: "up to."
So if you only get 6000 from a DSL16000 connection, that's just how it is. At least you have that bandwidth all to yourself.

By the way, the info about the APN costs is correct. I still have the offer at home. Exterior wall installation is free, bringing it inside the house costs just under 400€ (about 430 USD).

This is also a common misconception. Just because the few meters from the main distribution frame (MDF) to your place operate at 16,000 kbit/s, it does not guarantee that this speed is maintained all the way to the backbone. Try searching for "DSL oversubscription".
