Hello everyone,

Is it possible to apply for both a Telekom connection and a Unity Media connection (cable connection) at the same time? The reason is that I would like to get Internet via the cable network because Telekom cannot provide a fast enough Internet service. TV would be received normally via satellite dish.

I have already completed the Telekom application and then looked at the Unity application, which only states that they will send the builder an offer if it is possible to install a connection. I assume there must already be a cable connection nearby that they can tap into.

I still wanted to ask if anyone has ever applied for both at the same time?

You are then dependent on a single supplier. This way, you generally remain more flexible. The additional connection is not that expensive either.

Of course, you can have any connection installed. A telecom connection does not necessarily require a contract. We chose both a telecom connection and a local fiber optic connection. Since the fiber optic connection is free with a 2-year contract, we now have fiber for 2 years. The telecom connection would not have been cheaper with a 2-year contract, so that issue is settled. We now have both connections installed and will likely switch back and forth every 2 years to take advantage of new customer bonuses. Since both connections use different cables, there are no issues with "someone still using the old line."

A building permit / planning permission can take a while; in our case, it was six months.

First, it needs to be checked whether UM is even available. As far as I understand, I will receive an offer if it is possible.

We have all three options as well – when you build anyway, it’s as cost-effective as it will ever be.
- Satellite TV (wiring designed so that a cable signal can also be connected)
- Unitymedia for internet (400 Mbps connection possible)
- Telekom as a backup solution
