Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Envy (because you are already so far along ) and respect, because you are doing so much yourself. When did the excavator arrive and when will you move in?

I just checked the pictures: The excavator started on April 3rd.
So it’s been a little over 8 months from start to move-in.
Because of subcontracting and the split-level design (more complex earthworks), the process took a bit longer than it would have on a flat plot (without a basement) and with a general contractor from the beginning.
From a coordination point of view, some things could have been done much faster, which has always been a bit frustrating. But oh well.

Your living room with the balcony above it is spectacular. Is there a floor plan available online?

Thanks. You can find it here:

Since then we have rearranged the living room furniture; the sofa is now placed along the right wall in the plan. The architect had suggested this during the design phase, but my wife was initially hesitant. When we first visited the shell of the building, we quickly changed our minds—just in time to at least install some of the wiring for TV and speakers through the ceiling.

Additionally, the airlock at the entrance (to prevent drafts from the open staircase) and the one outside the guest bathroom (serving as sound insulation, basically ) were planned only as optional glass walls, and for now, they will not be installed.

What is the double socket outlet next to the toilet intended for?

My wife likes to sit down while blow-drying her hair, and since the bathroom is small, this will probably mean she ends up sitting on the toilet. And since there is already electricity there, I’d rather install a double outlet right away.

You already wrote it yourself: No more lake access, no more view of the Alps...

??? In the picture, it looks like the lake is right behind your garden shed (?)

The garden shed belongs to the neighbor. But it’s true, we are directly on the water.

Dear friends of home building,

Our double garage has just been delivered. Everything went perfectly.

Now we are only waiting for the team to install the trims and the parapet.

Best regards
