Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

Nothing but the truth. The area does look bright, as you can see in the photo, but with frosted glass, you can only dream of bright rooms.
We’ll give Mastercarre a try. Hopefully, it won’t be too transparent for us [emoji85][emoji28]

I would always choose clear glass and only have it professionally frosted with film if needed.

"Always" not necessarily, but I would also prefer this approach. If you are already sure how you want it, I find frosting the glass itself works well too. With film, you can still "experiment," and it remains quite durable if you want it to stay that way permanently.

Alex85 is right: it’s really just a large, bright spot. But that’s intentional for us; the distance from our front door to the street is only about 7 meters (23 feet), so we simply didn’t want clear glass there. There’s already enough light, as the front door faces northwest, and the hallway, stairs, and living room (all open plan) receive plenty of natural light from the southeast. Plus, everything will be painted bright white. I’ll share some photos next year when everything is finished. What worries me more is the view from the living room, which will definitely be much worse than it is now, no matter how nice the garden becomes...

Worsening is clear; other changes hardly seem possible from the optimum perspective. But why totally?

It looks similar here. And tomorrow the prefab garage is supposed to arrive. At least the car will stay nicely dry.

Wishing you a wonderful first Sunday of Advent
