Hello,

We will be moving into our new condominium next year and soon need to finalize the bathroom layout. We have already given it a lot of thought and decided to place the shower on the left side of the bathroom. Now we are debating whether to position the sink next to the bathtub or to swap the sink and toilet so they are aligned. In the first option, the toilet is the first thing you see when entering the bathroom. On the other hand, this layout would allow us to use the shelf to the left of the sink, above the bathtub.

I have already planned everything with the help of a building planner and, as mentioned, am only unsure about the sink/toilet arrangement. What do you think? The bathroom measures 4.01 m x 2 m (13.2 ft x 6.6 ft).

I appreciate any ideas or suggestions (also on other points).

Best regards

Isometric bathroom layout: bathtub left, toilet, sink with mirror, shower right.

Purely my gut feeling: sink, toilet, bathtub.

Is there enough space for a plum-shaped sink and shower?

Do you mean the space between the two fixtures?!
I don’t find either ideal. Whether it’s the sink or the toilet: it blocks the way into the bathroom.
It’s better to align everything along one wall, even if that might seem a bit dull.

Good morning,

we are currently leaning towards the first option (toilet right at the entrance) to have more space at the washbasin.

@ypg Your suggestion was the initial design. Back then, the shower was planned at the very beginning on the right side, so everything was along one wall with the door on the left. We found the risk of collisions between the shower door and the regular door problematic. Also, after showering, you would have stood directly in front of the door to dry off. We did not want a sliding door. That’s why we placed the shower on the left. Best regards

I would definitely avoid placing the toilet right at the entrance, as it looks quite awkward, in my opinion—sorry. Also, having the bathtub in front of the window is likely not the best solution. If I may offer my amateur advice: I would position the toilet in the corner, diagonally opposite the bathroom door, and perhaps consider a corner bathtub, even though I'm not a big fan of that option. And if you want the opinion of a professional (male or female—just to be fair ), you might want to visit a plumbing supply store for some expert advice.

How many people are there in your household that the risk of door collisions could be an issue?
I have a suggestion… I’ll sketch it out.
