These devices follow two different concepts.
The control unit is meant to function more like a switching center. Take a look at the description from MDT.
We have one each on the ground floor and the upper floor, both centrally located.
However, I must admit that once I understood the difference, I also think it’s not really necessary. Anyway, now they are there and will find their place.

What else can you do with the control panel? It didn’t exist when we built our house.
I only briefly heard something about it on the forum...The control panel allows for room selection, meaning you can add another menu level and assign different functions to the buttons on each level. This way, you can assign significantly more functions.
Also quite useful are the built-in timers, which can be adjusted by the user.
And, if I remember correctly, the control panel can be locked with a PIN code. This is practical, for example, at the main entrance to disable an alarm scene when entering the house (it would be problematic if an intruder could simply press “alarm off”).

Strahleman30 Jan 2021 10:57@Tarnari Very nice kitchen, especially combined with the long window. Unfortunately, we weren’t brave enough to go with dark cabinets, but it really looks great!
The snow has finally melted here. If there’s no more to come—and it doesn’t look like it—then the sheet metal workers will start on Monday. Our photovoltaic system has also been ordered and will be installed on the roof as a DIY job.
In the meantime, I kept myself busy by pulling cords through the empty conduits for the network cables (old braided fishing line). Using tissue paper bits and a vacuum cleaner worked really well. Today, the electrician is chasing the channels, and tomorrow we’ll pull the cables through.
I also assembled a test setup for the roller shutter control. I’m implementing it with the Eltako 14 series. The combination of wired switches and wireless push buttons works perfectly (electrical experts might want to look away from this photo 😀).

Everything is flooding here. The small village stream is about 1 meter (3 feet) deep. Normally, it’s up to 30 cm (12 inches) even 1 km (0.6 miles) from the source. The other stream is a raging flow, and despite meadows that allow it to spread out, some houses already have flooded basements. The snow is melting, and it’s raining or snowing continuously.

That’s a GT2 and a control panel.
The electrician liked it a lot, I didn’t really think much about it. xD That would be too many for me again.
My concept is actually to install as few switches as possible.
You can do a lot with just that.
The primary lighting is controlled by the presence motion sensor, and at the switch, I only select my desired scene (cooking, cozy dining, reading, etc.).
