Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

1. We don’t have a cooktop on the island, and the power supply for the RG28 and waffle iron would hang over the sink.
2. Cell phones and similar devices have other designated spots.

this forum is always impressive... how a power outlet on a kitchen island can cause such a discussion^^

It is after all a house building forum... why wouldn’t people discuss the placement of power outlets here?
Especially since there was a user who is currently deciding where to plan the power outlets...

Do you also have a CEE socket (industrial power outlet) on the island? 😀

@OWLer Think about what you want to use this peninsula for. Do you also have a cooktop or sink there? If you cook there, you’ll often place cutlery, a cutting board, or something else next to the cooktop. If there is an outlet there, the bowl will wobble when you set it down, or liquid might get inside. When cooking, you usually put things down on either side, so an outlet would be in the way. If you have a sink there, I wouldn’t even consider having an outlet nearby.

We have a prep island with a smooth countertop. Even then, I wouldn’t want an outlet on top because it would ruin the smooth surface and the space I use, for example, to roll out dough. Of course, I could roll over it and end up with a nice pattern in the dough and then carefully cut around the outlet with a knife. Overall, for me, the disadvantages of having an outlet on the countertop outweigh the benefits.

Of course, with an electric car you need to be able to charge anywhere 🙂

Definitely avoid placing the power outlet on the countertop. :p Instead, position it on the side of the island. This way, it stays clean and doesn’t get in the way while working or wiping the surface.
