Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

He probably meant the fitting. 😉

Ah, ok. I didn’t see that. Sorry.

I’m really impressed by your new door with the great hardware! Flush-mounted? Could you share which door it is, what hardware you used, and maybe the approximate cost for the door including hardware and installation?

Thanks 🙂

As I mentioned earlier, after taking over the house a year ago, we completely renovated the interior to fit our taste. On the ground floor, there are already very high-quality interior doors installed — my nephew, who is a carpenter, told me this. They even have a magnetic latch that closes the door smoothly without any resistance. The doors are... um ... very heavy. These doors also have this type of handle. They are indeed very flat and only protrude by about two or three millimeters (around 0.1 inch), so they’re not completely flush with the door surface. However, a carpenter could probably fix that if desired.

During the renovation, we gave the upper floors a consistent look. Previously, on the upper floor, there were — to us — really ugly pine doors like the ones I once had in a rental apartment. So, we called a carpenter, ordered white doors, and got the hardware to match those from the ground floor. The doors arrived and were installed after 6 weeks, but unfortunately in the wrong shade of white. We called the carpenter again, and he said, "I’m sorry, but we really can’t do anything about that."

A few days later, however, we got a call from the carpenter who’d been nearly sleepless over the issue. Because customer satisfaction meant a lot to him, he offered to remove the doors and repaint them in RAL 9016. So the four doors, including the frames, were taken out (luckily still possible), sent to the workshop for repainting, and reinstalled a few days later.

We waited about three months for the hardware. If I remember correctly, they are from Hoppe (about 40 euros each, depending on where you buy them). The upper-floor doors have a classic latch instead of a magnetic one. I don’t know exactly who made the doors right now, but each cost about 600 euros without installation. They come in various designs. We chose one with a vertical groove.

I hardly think the door is flush, otherwise the sign couldn’t be mounted on the door lintel. 😉
The sign was nailed firmly by the big lady with thin nails (fortunately not into the door)! 🙂

It was supposed to be on the door itself, not above it. But then it was lightly glued.

Here are pictures of the other doors. They are clearly of higher quality and quite solid, meaning thick 🙂

For those, the hinges alone cost nearly 100€ each (Simonswerk TECTUS TE 540 3D), as I found out.

Three other doors on the ground floor (kitchen, living room, and "multipurpose room") have frosted glass panels with clear glass borders. It’s a miracle that nothing got damaged during the renovation, since all the doors on the ground floor were removed and stored in the garage for a while.

Bulthaup B1 kitchen, very stylish. Are the other pieces of furniture also Bulthaup (B3)? Or custom-made by a cabinetmaker? Either way, they look great.

What is the name of your architect? They deserve a lot of praise!
