Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@hampshire I really like it. Tasteful, warm, cozy, consistent throughout... Even though it’s pretty much the opposite of our future place.

Thank you, @rick2018. There is so much beauty that not everything fits together. I’m following your build and the consistent concept. It’s always nice to see how houses gain personality and soul as soon as someone lives in "their home." Until then, there are still a few steps to go.

The thick intermediate ceiling makes the room below appear low, but when you look at the table, you can see that the height is at least 2.50 or 2.6 meters (8.2 or 8.5 feet).

And very nice washbasin, how did you hide the drainage?

Photo with drain will follow; it’s not so hidden. For now, a simpler one is installed because the Steinberg bottle trap in black has a delivery time. There isn’t one on the photo yet. Well noticed.

Since the area above the kitchen is open, the space doesn’t feel cramped in reality. The entire room, with nearly 8m (26 feet) ceiling height over two floors and windows facing every direction, somehow doesn’t fit well in photos—especially not on phone pictures.

May I ask where you sourced the wood? We want to make something very similar and are currently looking around accordingly.

We received our energy certificate yesterday.

- Final energy demand is 9 kWh
- Primary energy demand is 15.9 kWh
- Building envelope value, Ht, is 0.248 W/(m² × K)

For a 36.5 cm (14.4 inches) brick wall without external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) and with a basement (insulated here, of course), that’s quite good.
