I would have liked to install the fish scale pattern as well. (I think it was too expensive for me ... in any case, it didn’t happen) I didn’t know they are also difficult to lay...
Anyway, I really like the shower wall.

Benutzer 10018 Oct 2022 13:34I think the sheds have something special. However, the floor doesn't quite seem right to me.
What I find strange, though, is why the walls are not sealed. Moisture can cause problems with mold in the insulation.

So cute! I think your house looks quite special because of the unusually high gable. And the view is great too.
Looks like it could be somewhere near us (Southwest Palatinate?) Thanks! Upstairs in the attic there are also two beautiful rooms. Although a bit tricky to furnish, they are really great for the kids.
On the first floor and in the attic, you can see the thick beams on the ceilings almost everywhere, making it very cozy.
It’s in western Central Hesse.

Pinkiponk9 Oct 2022 10:44Here is a photo showing how we solved the TV issue (for various reasons, we moved away from the South Korean company). This is the "couch corner," which is only rarely used for watching TV. (When it gets dark early, I sometimes turn on a crackling fake fireplace, a fireplace for the poor. ;-) )

Now here is the opposite dining area, which is still untidy and not yet finalized. We have to wait longer for the garage, so some of our garden furniture (for example, the table) is currently stored there. Except for the hallway, we haven’t hung any pictures anywhere else yet.

Here are two pictures of the kitchen, currently in an untidy state because it’s still too early. ;-) We will also replace the garden chairs here. The protective film behind the sink is only temporary until we find something else, as are the different handles on the drawers and doors. The drill hole spacing varies, so it’s not easy to find matching handles.

We are older people, which you can probably tell from our taste and furniture, but we like it very much. If I were to give one piece of advice, it would always be to have as many windows and glass doors as possible. 🙂 That’s the one thing about our house that, even if we had a lot more money, we would do the same way in a new build. In my opinion and experience, nothing can replace a maximum amount of daylight. I would have liked even more windows. I especially miss having three floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, but that just wasn’t possible in family discussions. ;-)
Photos of the exterior will follow when the garden has more to show, since some of you are already familiar with our house, which is quite unspectacular.
Apart from the surprising five-figure price increase for us, building the house was a lot of fun, and I would actually build again right away. 🙂
I wish all current home builders just as much fun and kindly ask you to share your joys and challenges here in the forum. Some of us here are gentle as cotton balls, others more like m&ms, but each one wants to help and contribute to a successful outcome on request. 🙂

Exterior photos will follow once the garden looks a bit more presentable, since some of you already know our house and it’s quite unremarkable.

I wish all future builders just as much enjoyment, and please, let’s share joys and sorrows here in the forum. I might have an old-fashioned taste, but I find that kind of country charm and buffet cabinets much cozier than modern kitchens where everything is hidden behind concrete-look surfaces and you can’t see a single item. I know that’s super modern, but it’s just not for me.
Even our last kitchen, which was country-style, felt too tidy to me because it had so few open elements.
