looks awesome.
Two questions, Thank you for your positive feedback 🙂 The doors throughout the house are 2.50 meters (8 ft 2 in) tall. While we have a ceiling height of 2.75 meters (9 ft) downstairs, we could only achieve 2.65 meters (8 ft 8 in) upstairs due to the limited ridge height. Baseboards would not have looked good with the flush doors. We had planned a shadow gap, but that would have involved an unimaginable amount of work. Therefore, the flooring installers and plasterers had to work joint to joint, resulting in a clean transition from wall to floor without baseboards. This approach didn’t exactly please either trade, but it works. The floor is linoleum (Wikipedia: “The main advantage of linoleum is its resistance to mechanical and chemical stresses. ... Linoleum is antistatic, slightly fungicidal and bacteriostatic (thus inhibiting bacterial growth).”). We installed it hoping it would at least withstand some wear and tear from our children for a time..., as it is proven in public spaces.
Good luck with your project, it sounds great with the ceiling height and the flush doors.

Strahleman4 Jan 2022 10:25By the end of the year, despite a week-long cold snap, I was still able to complete the most important outdoor tasks. Fortunately, the weather was on my side, and we had temperatures well above freezing before New Year's Eve.
The entrance area with a raised platform was paved, and I also managed to finish the terrace. Now, only the parking area for the cars remains, but that will be done quickly. Without the mess in front of the house, it really looks like a livable home 🙂

On Monday the carpenter will come for the greened terrace roof, and we will probably be able to pass on the mistaken purchase of the awning to a friend who has an exact need for it, for a good price. Is there any information on why the awning was a mistaken purchase, or could you briefly explain it for me?
We want to avoid those “steel cage with glass roof” structures as shading and prefer a large, high-quality awning. However, we are wondering if it will provide enough protection during midsummer on the large south-facing terrace, or if we might be overestimating its effectiveness.

It was too hot for me under the awning on the south-facing terrace.
The main reason, however, was that I also wanted rain protection to simply leave things outside. Thank you for your reply. I’m not someone who needs to sit or lie directly in the summer sun; I prefer having good shade.
So, I guess an awning isn’t the right choice for us either, right?
What did you decide on that offers better protection from heat but still looks nice?
