Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Only panels on the right and left sides of the windows. Just for decoration, because otherwise it looked too empty. They are never drawn closed and sometimes changed to different colors to match the season. We have three floor-to-ceiling windows in the living/dining area. You seem to have one continuous front. If you like, show a picture, then it’s easier to give advice.

We really wanted chairs with armrests in every seat because we often spend long hours at the table with guests or family, and eventually, you don’t know where to put your arms. We find a chair you can lounge in and rest your arms on simply more comfortable. When getting up, yes, you have to push it back all the way. But so far, that hasn’t been a problem for us.

I wouldn’t have curtains in the house—they’re just not to my taste, and as someone allergic to house dust, I have even more reason against them. But we don’t miss them at all...

We have long curtains because otherwise it would look too "empty":

Large wooden table with bench, black pendant lamp, candle in glass vase, deer figure, window wall.

Nice! Why aren’t the panes transparent? What is in front of them?

I also have long curtains on the sides and I’m glad about it. Until there is enough money for a patio roof or awning, they serve as sun protection or are drawn at night when the wind is too strong and the roller blinds are raised.

Vertical blind... Here without it yet:

Bright dining room with wooden table and bench, glasses, view of mountains through large windows.
