Am I the only one who notices the first signs of a stroke when seeing 400€ (about $440) for a stacking chair? No, I also find the prices on the two designer sites mentioned to be quite expensive.
Compared to that, Westwing seems more affordable? Although I just don’t like many of their items (too trendy and less timeless).

pffreestyler16 Dec 2019 13:37No, I wouldn’t even spend $100 on a chair. Probably also the reason why, with just a 2,000 € net income (about $2,150), I was still able to build my own house, continue saving well every month, and don’t lack anything. Chairs that cost 400 € (about $430) are also part of the reason why many believe that a typical house build requires at least a 4,500 € net income (about $4,850).
I’m happy for anyone who can afford that. For me, the cost-benefit ratio just doesn’t make sense. Although, I guess not everyone would want to move in with me either.

I searched for a long time for chairs that we like, that are comfortable to sit in, and that have armrests. If I had found something cheaper, I would have gone for it. But we really spent three years looking at everything available, trying them out, and so on. In the end, these outdoor chairs were the ones left. I also liked a classic cantilever chair, but my husband didn’t (and those classic cantilever chairs aren’t any cheaper either).
My last chairs lasted over 25 years (and I still have them as 4 extra chairs for the ends of the table). If these last as long, that will be fine for me (and I think they’re practically indestructible). In between, we had two somewhat cheaper chairs with genuine leather upholstery, but they were completely worn out after just one month—it felt like sitting on a toilet seat. We definitely didn’t want to go through that again.

Fummelbrett!16 Dec 2019 15:13For me, the chairs and their price wouldn’t be suitable either. We go for tavern-style chairs that need to be durable ^^ But if someone enjoys spending that much on them, they should go ahead – it’s great if people find joy in these things. Everyone has different priorities. Whether it’s in house construction or furnishing, kitchen equipment, or clothing... Otherwise, life would be pretty boring and monotonous if everyone were the same.
To each their own, why not. I also think the table with the chairs looks nice. I just wouldn’t want to spend that much myself, and I would never have the patience to spend so much time on details like chairs (I’m the type to just do one trip to IKEA and get everything). But as I said, if it’s perfect for her, why not.
