Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

For a rooftop system, it makes sense since the modules are so inexpensive that the renewable energy surcharge and the lower feed-in tariff are negligible, allowing the system to still pay off within 10 years.

Yes, you can calculate it this way if you have a very simple installation with inexpensive modules/electronics and do not need to consider commercial regulations and tax matters.

I don’t want to be difficult, but the same applies to a standard or high-quality electrical system (e.g., SolarEdge) and high-quality modules, such as LG Neon.

I think Lumpi’s statements apply to 99.5% of all photovoltaic systems on private houses, so it’s fair to leave it at that.
The exception is you and your concept, not the other way around.

Your focus is not primarily on profitability, which is okay. Different criteria apply in that case.
Anyone aiming for a return on investment won’t choose a building-integrated system; they’ll install as many cheap, standardized, low-complexity components as possible. No battery, no provision for one, and absolutely no connection to the domestic hot water system.

Yellow Komatsu excavator digging soil on construction site; sand piles, green meadows, and trees in the background.

Our project finally got underway today. It’s all very exciting.
