Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

Good morning everyone,

could someone please share some photos showing how water and wastewater pipes run between floors in solid construction? Do these pipes usually go up through a service shaft or are openings made in the walls like for electrical cables? I would also appreciate pictures of fully installed controlled residential ventilation supply ducts inside the walls. I’m having trouble picturing how these three elements (service shaft, water/wastewater pipes, controlled residential ventilation supply ducts) look in or on the wall.

The heating engineer is currently planning everything and asked me where we want to run the controlled ventilation piping from the unit in the basement upwards, which of course takes up space. I would like to run everything up in a single shaft—controlled ventilation, water/wastewater, and the wiring for the photovoltaic system.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing should be chased into exterior walls due to structural reasons.
Downpipes are always installed externally and covered. Drainage: a direct route to the outside!

What impact could such a small vertical groove possibly have on the structural integrity? One of our downpipes is also planned inside the exterior wall. This was explicitly requested by the heating engineer.

I probably made assumptions too quickly based on our 17 cm (6.7 inch) masonry. That’s how it was with us. Sorry.

Well, I wouldn’t do it that way either then

...Photos would be nice, of course. Our masonry uses 36.5cm (14.4 inches) bricks.
