HäuslebauerEE29 Jul 2018 17:49Hello everyone,
we have purchased a fully serviced plot and discussed the additional construction costs with a general contractor during the sales meeting. Here, 3500 euros were estimated for the wastewater section.
We also obtained quotes for the earthworks. The excavator included the installation of underground drainage pipes ("KG pipes"), the inspection chamber, and the cistern in his offer. He told us, "Everything related to wastewater leaving the property is covered in my quote."
Now we are wondering what the 3500 euros for wastewater actually covers. What work might still be missing? From my understanding, the pipe that connects the property’s wastewater to the local sewage system still needs to be installed, but that shouldn’t cost 3500 euros, right? Could you possibly help clarify this?
Best regards

From my understanding, the pipe that leaves the property still needs to be connected to the local sewage system, but that can’t really cost 3500 euros, can it?It can actually cost up to 10,000 euros. This largely depends on your municipality’s wastewater regulations. There are all kinds of calculation methods, including capital contribution fees for the downstream infrastructure.
The home builder installs the wastewater pipes inside the house and up to the outer edge of the floor slab. From there, the earthworks contractor continues up to the inspection chamber, including roof drainage (KG pipes).
The inspection chamber and the connection to the sewer system are provided by the city/municipality for a fee. This is usually specified when purchasing the plot.

However, in my case, the site contractor also installed the inspection chamber. It is located about 2m (6.5 feet) away from the municipal sewer network. I just can’t imagine how this could cost 3,500, but you do get surprised by these things from time to time.
