Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

There is still a 5m (16 ft) wide strip of lawn behind the house... But yes – that’s our garden and our house, and that was all we could manage.
Certainly not contemptuous. More like amazed. We have a large plot and garden, and we wanted it that way.
However, it is also an older building and certainly in a decidedly "worse" location than yours.

Still, it probably wouldn’t be enough for me... Despite the work we have had with it over the past two weeks or so.

Already enjoying the first hours on the shaded north terrace.
With a view of such an exemplary exit and landscaping solution, it’s certainly a pleasure.

Construction continued on our site this week as well. There was a day off because the construction crew had to dismantle the scaffolding and crane on another site; otherwise, work progressed in various areas.

For example, insulation and drainage were installed:

Two construction workers placing a gray insulation board against a foundation wall; reinforcement is laid on top.

In the background, the rhubarb of our organic farmer is being harvested in the neighboring field.

Foundation structure: concrete wall with reinforcement, orange pipe laid in the trench next to the wall.

Excavation at the foundation: gravel base, waterproofing membrane on the wall, red pipe stub in the trench.

Construction site: concrete foundation being poured, skip suspended in chains, workers at work.

Here is the foundation for the extension to the ground floor.

Construction site: foundation wall made of concrete blocks, reinforcement and earthworks.

The north-facing exterior wall is already standing as well.

Every day we look forward to making a short visit to the site to see what’s new.

Our masons have been hard at work again, nearly finishing the brick cladding on the exterior walls and finally starting the interior walls on the upper floor. Next week, the windows and window sills are expected to be installed. Then our house will finally get its “face.”

Today we sowed the lawn. Last autumn it was always too wet, but now the conditions are right. It will turn green soon, looking forward to it. Karsten
