Hello,

the heating engineer has installed the supply and exhaust ventilation pipes through the sloping roof beneath the vapour barrier membrane. Although this will still be insulated and covered by the drywall, is this acceptable or could it cause a thermal bridge or create a potential weak spot for mold growth in the pipes?

In our case, there is also a utility shaft, but the problem is that the shaft ends in a dormer, and all the pipes would have to be routed through the dormer roof up to the attic. This is not possible due to space constraints. The supply and exhaust air for the mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system are located in the basement wall because the ventilation unit is installed in the basement utility room.

The connections between the basement (KG) and ground floor (EG), and between the ground floor and attic (DG), run through the utility shaft, but not between the attic and the attic space above. These are the pipes that lead to the supply and exhaust air ceiling outlets in the attic.

Since the pipes will be arranged with some spacing and divided over two rafter bays, the installation will be done as shown in your first picture, with insulation behind it.
