Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Tomtom: The membrane is certified as root-resistant and is also used for green roofs, among other applications. Additionally, the Austrotherm insulation will be installed over the membrane. The roots would have to get through that first. I am not worried about it at all.

More detailed information, as well as all applications and certifications of the membrane, can be found online by searching for "Hertalan EPDM."

The membrane was glued yesterday. It still looks the same as yesterday because the same protective cover is still on top.

If anyone wants to see more pictures, they can also visit the perennial gardener’s website; we are the most recent project.

Looks like a great plot! Could we see a photo of the entire site with the surroundings? It looks amazing!

The natural stone paved path at the front: can you keep it or does it have to go?

Good morning everyone,

Attached are the requested photos. The plot is about 913 square meters (9,820 square feet) and is located in the beautiful Börde region. A house with 165 square meters (1,776 square feet) and a garage measuring 10.5 by 7 meters (34.4 by 23 feet) will be built.

The path with the natural stone paving is an old field track that now leads nowhere, so I think it will be preserved.

The only downside is that there is a railway line about 100 meters (330 feet) away.

Building plot with pits, barrier tape and wooden posts, undeveloped and open.

Nice plot of land, I really like it!

Is there a lot of traffic on the railway line? Often, it’s the case that the line is busy only at certain times, while it’s quiet overnight and during off-peak hours.

It’s great that the old path can remain.

Climbee, when will you continue with the ground floor?

Yesterday, the basement received its EPDM membrane, and today the insulation was installed.
Then the excavation will be backfilled, and we have decided to install a rainwater cistern under the carport. This will be done together with the backfilling.

According to the plan, the carport will be prepared next. The shell construction is scheduled to start again on October 8th. I think the components simply won’t be finished and delivered before that.

I would have liked to build the retaining walls before backfilling so that the backfill could be done directly to the correct height. At first, our builder wasn’t enthusiastic about this, but recently he said it might actually make sense (I told you: constant dripping wears away the stone!). Maybe this can be arranged within the next two weeks. I’ll have to bring it up again.

Scaffolding is planned to be set up starting October 15th, and the crane is scheduled to be dismantled on October 29th/30th, which means the house will already be standing then.
The windows are scheduled for delivery on November 2nd.
After that, interior work will begin.

Completion was promised for February; I’m realistically expecting March before we can actually move in. We are moving to the same town with five cats. This means the animals will need a sufficiently long time in the house to get used to their new home. For us, that means moving in only when the tradespeople are no longer coming and going.

Good luck relocating the house cats. It didn’t work for us. They now live with my parents in their original territory.
