I also find this one better than your other design.
For example, I would still plan a small window on the west side of the living room to let in some sunlight and move the carport forward instead.
But I’m assuming you have a general contractor or a contractor with an architect who works for the company, possibly without much enthusiasm.
This proposal can certainly be improved as well, for example the cold storage room — the same old story about storage space!
An architect’s job is to find the best compromise for the plot according to your wishes, nothing else.

erfurter11028724 Oct 2013 22:30The architect is working with the company, but not for the company. His employees seemed a bit unimaginative. That’s why we are going back to see the boss in person on Monday, keeping the floor plan in mind.
What is the difference between "with" and "for" in this context?
Who pays the architect?
What does the architect do for you?
I fully understand when someone complains: unfortunately, we are building with a general contractor for cost reasons, who unfortunately cannot do the planning. Can you help me?
But this is quite different from someone saying: look, here is my floor plan, drawn by our architect. Do you still find small mistakes?
It’s not enough to just Google a floor plan and decide to use it.
These should be used only as starting points, which always need to be individually adapted to the property (site, section, north orientation, etc.).

Hello,
why don’t you try consulting a different architect? You’re not obligated to choose the one you have now.
We also initially worked with two general contractors with architects, but at the same time, we contacted an independent architect.
We gave all of them the same desired house size and asked for rough designs and offers.
By the way, both of those were free!
That way, we could compare everything in advance, and now we are building with the independent architect. He really puts in effort, makes good suggestions, some of which were further refined together with us. Now our design is finalized and will be submitted as a building permit application/planning permission, so construction can start in March 2014. We are building without a general contractor by contracting individual trades ourselves… this way, you might also save some money by comparing offers.
Best regards, Fragi

Bauexperte13 Nov 2013 12:29The hallway has become nicely spacious.
But where will the electrical cabinet go?
Where do you dry your laundry?
Who will cut down your 3-meter (10-foot) bedroom wardrobe to 2.90 meters (9.5 feet)? After building the house, you probably won’t have the budget for custom modifications.
Which child will get the small storage room?
On the other hand, you have a bathroom big enough to dance in… I’m not a fan of that spacious, hall-like atmosphere in a bathroom—but some people need that size (especially with four occupants, I guess)—so if you need it...
still, I find the room layouts and their relative sizes quite random and not well thought through.
Best regards,
Yvonne
