Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Uh, with timber frame construction, you have the same problem (risk of mold). Or do you not have a screed?

The moisture mainly comes from below.

We were really lucky with our screed. It was poured at the beginning of July when the weather wasn’t too hot yet, but still quite warm. And now it will continue to cure for another 2 weeks in these high outdoor temperatures. Overall, the mostly dry and warm period since May was ideal for construction. Now it would already be too hot to work comfortably outside. But in May, the weather was still very pleasant. We got lucky.

So, we are working hard and making steady progress. The only thing missing at the front is the house number sign (excluding the landscaping).

Upstairs, the rooms now have flooring. It’s a pity we didn’t choose this bio-based flooring for the entire house. We really like it better.

The texture of the exterior plaster is a bit frustrating. I need to take a closer look.

I really like the color of the walls in the living area! The dents in the exterior plaster are quite annoying, especially since with these kinds of lights, every unevenness becomes visible.

We’re getting our screed on Thursday... I hope it’s not too hot, since you want the screed to have enough time to cure properly. I’m looking forward to when the inside of the house finally starts to look more like a real home!

Even though you can probably get better quality, the tolerances in this area are usually quite high. Just skip the façade lighting altogether; it actually saves money and doesn’t really add any value.

No! Everything is wood, even the basement (if anyone is interested, you can look up "Staudenschreiner" on YouTube to see the construction of a wooden basement).
So nothing needs to dry in our case.

And – YAY – soon I’ll finally be able to actively participate here as well.
The old garage will be demolished in the next few weeks, groundworks will start at the beginning of September, and we were just told that the move-in date is planned for January-February. Although not everything will be finished by then (for example, the exterior landscaping and basement interior), we will be able to move in. Yippee! After more than two long years, it’s finally becoming real. We are conservatively planning for a move-in date in March, but even that is much sooner than we previously expected (we had assumed April/May, maybe even June).
*excited*
