Hello everyone,

We moved in nearly a year ago. The basement was not yet finished; we have installed electrical wiring there and already plastered the walls. Now we want to work on the floor.
The basement has only the bare concrete (waterproof basement), with no insulation and no screed. Only the black vapor barrier is installed.
The question is: which season is best to install the screed, considering that this will introduce a lot of moisture into the basement? Probably not summer, since warm outdoor temperatures tend to bring more moisture inside. A cold winter would cool the basement, so that might not be ideal either, right?
Beforehand, insulation still needs to be installed, and in two rooms, underfloor heating will be added.

Thanks for any advice and best regards,
Tobi

I believe the season doesn't really matter. It's only the temperature that counts. The basement should not be colder than 5°C (41°F). It just always needs to be well ventilated to remove moisture from the rooms.

But is the basement insulated on the outside?

@Koempy:

It really depends on the season – in summer, you just bring in humidity, but not in winter...

But most of the moisture comes from the plaster, right? The screed isn’t that damp – or is it anhydrite screed?

Yes, the exterior is insulated—of course, not the foundation slab. I’m trying to complete it before winter, but not during the peak of summer now.

Why logically? We didn’t insulate the foundation slab either, so we’ll just do it through the screed insulation then 😉

Yes, that is logically how it is done, even though it creates a thermal bridge here. Otherwise, insulation would also have to be installed under the concrete slab.
I will also be adding x cm (x inches) of insulation between the concrete and the screed.
