Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

I think it’s better than the perfectly straight streets in other new housing developments. At least this way, no one is speeding 😉

What’s funny, though, is that the development plan then requires garages to be positioned at right angles or parallel to the street. For some, this raises the question of the exact reference point.

Why do people build such a large house with so little roof overhang?

First, I don’t like how it looks, and second, it doesn’t keep moisture away from the house. A large roof overhang on the gables and eaves would definitely have been more effective and better for the house.

At least you didn’t choose those gray windows, but white ones instead. They look good, also in terms of the layout.

Some people don’t like roof overhangs because they might seem too "Alpine" in style. I find very short roof overhangs to look more like industrial warehouses, so I prefer a bit more overhang. But to each their own.

To be honest, I had really given a lot of thought to the overhang. The construction specification stated 40cm (16 inches), which I found acceptable, so that settled the matter. 😉

OK, that looks like less.
I also have 40cm (16 inches)…

We also have an eave overhang of about 40 cm (16 inches) all around. This was the standard from our prefab home supplier, and we accepted it as such.
