Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Marazzi tiles are very nice; they offer a VERY wide range of wood-look tiles. I believe they have almost 30 different collections in various colors. I didn’t order any from Marazzi because I didn’t like the shades of gray. But they do have some very beautiful brown tiles. I think their prices are somewhat higher.

We wanted natural oak with a more subdued finish.
We also came across Marazzi early on, but all their samples were rejected. The color tones we wanted differed significantly, and we didn’t like the surface texture.

Yes, I also find it absolutely not easy. I liked the Velden the most in terms of appearance, but they were very smooth and therefore did not pass.

Good luck 😀
No, we have seen both tile options in person under artificial light and daylight, but only on about 1sqm (11 sq ft) and not in the plank size we chose, 1.20 x 0.20m (4 ft x 8 inches).

I understand you, pinkiponk… our bare house annoyed me a lot; it wasn’t exactly how I wanted it. The windows were too small, the roof too red, and so on… but there it stood, bare… houses like the ones we imagine really come to life through the landscaping and, in our case, through the permanent patio roof… that’s when the whole picture comes together… just wait and see…

Natural oak, simple design.... Yes, that's the direction we're leaning towards.

What did you decide on, @guckuck2?

I will be spending the next few days at the building materials supplier, tile store, and hardware store. And ordering samples. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Hornbach nearby.

We are building with a developer, so it’s not easy for us to buy materials elsewhere.

Thank you very much for the input; now I have to make something out of it.

@Pinkiponk: I’m sure the tiles will look great and you will like them.

Just to compare how colors and walls can appear differently, even if you already know this. I took the two photos about a minute apart with my phone.

The wall paint (except for the wall tiles in the bathroom) as well as the floor tiles in both rooms are exactly the same but appear quite different in the photos. I find this interesting, and it also helps to overlook any minor mistakes in color choice. ;-) So far, I really like the tiles and walls, even though the green tiles in the bathroom have been quite controversial here on the forum. ;-) Once the rooms are finished, I’ll take better photos and share them here. 🙂
