Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

And fourth, you’re not the “forum police” 😀

Are you offended now?

Firstly, this absolute statement is incorrect.

A solid brick without air cavities, like the facing brick, provides no insulation at all. 🙄

1. The insulation is, of course, located behind the brick veneer.
2. I have and love brick veneer; no one needs to convince me otherwise.
3. With this example, I wanted to emphasize that I design my house according to my own taste, not the neighbors’.
4. A photo: green roofing on the garage, with sedum “sown” in a grid pattern two years ago and some individual plants added later. It retains an incredible amount of water, and even during heavy rain, it takes a long time before the overflow starts to trickle...

Yes, but still the statement wasn’t entirely accurate. After all, you can insulate as much as you want behind the render/plaster :p

Does clinker brick have no insulating effect?! We are not talking about “clinker slips” here!

I compare it like this: someone who installs a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery will want to keep that system, and it’s the same with a clinker brick facade.

Overall, it also depends on the mass. We have ceramic clinker brick + 8cm (3 inches) air gap + 6cm (2.5 inches) insulation + red brick.
