Hello,
I have a question. We want to build an ecological, well-insulated house and have therefore looked for "eco-house" providers. Now we have received cost estimates from different companies and suddenly the eco-house no longer has wood fiber insulation or cellulose insulation in the walls but mineral wool instead. Of course, it is supposed to be very ecological as well (according to the company), because it has the Blue Angel certification (this is from Knauf).
I am a bit shocked because I actually wanted a house with timber frame construction and insulation made from renewable raw materials. That means wood, possibly hemp, coconut fiber, or if it weren’t so expensive, sheep wool.
What do you think about the mineral wool from Knauf with the Blue Angel certification? What are the disadvantages, and what are the advantages of wood-based insulation, for example? How is it with the feeling of the room? Can you notice a difference?
I would appreciate your opinions!

No, you don’t feel anything. However, mineral wool is more itchy if you cuddle with it.
Just Google it... there are hundreds of comparisons. I think it mainly depends on what you want and also a bit on your personal preference. Mineral wool is, after all, a petroleum-based product.

Mineral wool is the general term for stone wool or glass wool. These are made from melted and spun sand and other materials, so they are not petroleum-based products.
I do not consider all natural products to be more ecological, as they are treated with many chemicals to meet fire protection and other requirements.
I would not be discouraged by mineral wool or, more precisely, mineral fiber insulation.
Regards

A small amount as a binder, but I believe it is difficult to find something that does not contain it. As always, it is a matter of balance and should be used where you feel comfortable with it.
Wood fiber tends to develop green rot later due to its higher density.
The summer heat insulation and overall soundproofing are also better due to the higher density.
The thermal conductivity value (WLG) is usually somewhat worse.
Material costs are higher, but installation by blowing in is easier and faster; however, this cannot be done as a DIY task because it requires specialized equipment and experience.
