Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

After May 2015:

I can’t imagine 1.60m (5.25 ft)…

But that’s what it says:

The recommended height is 1.50–1.60 meters (4 ft 11 in – 5 ft 3 in) according to mdt (website). However, the switches allow for any height and are always readable and operable.

In our living room, they are set at 1.40 meters (4 ft 7 in), and throughout the rest of the house at 1.10 meters (3 ft 7 in).

What does "control unit" mean in this case? What is the difference compared to a push button?

Nice MDT push buttons.
At what height did you install them?
We were unsure because standard push buttons are usually placed around 1.15 m (3 ft 9 in), but MDT recommends 1.6 to 1.7 m (5 ft 3 in to 5 ft 7 in).
We have them installed now at about 1.4 m (4 ft 7 in), I think.

Did you install KNX yourself?

We installed them at 1.3 m (4 ft 3 in), which I find perfect. However, we are not very tall (max. 171 cm (5 ft 7 in)).
I find the Gira G1 too low and would place it at about 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in) next time.

I had the electrician handle the wiring and distribution cabinet. I installed the sensors and did the programming myself.

Sascha, KNX is not my area of expertise, but I like your house. The exterior looks great, a nice mix, and the interior as well. It’s not quite within our budget range, but it’s beautiful.
I hope you were able to take it over with few defects. And that your finances worked out so there is still some room left for the garden and such. Have you had it measured yet? Karsten

Thank you @Nordlys
We are slightly over our budget, but everything is within reason and without issues.
We had hardly any defects. One cartridge in the faucet and one pane of a patio door will be replaced, otherwise everything is fine.
Money for the garden is less of a problem than the availability of a landscaping contractor. So far, we haven’t been able to find one.
