Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

A standard design with a 35-degree Celsius (95°F) supply temperature, which in my opinion is outdated.

Is a 30-degree Celsius (86°F) supply temperature considered modern?

A wild “screed” appeared. It’s super effective!
Basically, the previous discussion was already a bit pointless, we only had a short time one afternoon to go and check out the underfloor heating pipes. The plan was that the screed would be poured immediately after finishing the underfloor heating, so one day later. We had hoped to catch the underfloor heating company on site and take a look upstairs, but unfortunately our timing was off—they were already done when we arrived.
At first, our timing was better, but now for the third time in a row, when we drove there, nobody was around. Something always happens. It feels like little elves are at work.
When I posted the photos of the underfloor heating pipes, the screed was probably already poured or being poured at that moment.

We’ll see—the first winter will show how it holds up. I’m staying optimistic. I still have plenty of time to get upset about shoddy work if it actually happens. Getting worked up too early isn’t good for my blood pressure anyway.

Is this the living room? It looks quite dark. Or are the windows still covered by something on the outside?

Now, please leave the poor woman alone... if it's dark, it’s dark. What can she do about it now?

Regarding construction supervision, I want to point out that paying 4000 euros alone does not guarantee anything. You have to be prepared that defects might be identified by the supervisor, and then the homeowner is solely responsible for enforcing the correction of those defects... with all the consequences.

Construction supervision is not a guarantee for success, that’s what I’m trying to say...

For example, if defects are found on the roof and the contractor is uncooperative, the homeowner faces an unpleasant decision: stop construction, continue paying rent for several months, maybe even not be able to move in? Or carry on with the build and then end up in ongoing disputes, because poor workmanship is often difficult to fix afterwards...

Regarding construction supervision, I want to point out that just paying 4000 euros (approximately 4400 USD) doesn’t guarantee safety. You have to be prepared that defects might be identified by the supervisor, and then the homeowner alone is responsible for enforcing defect-free work… with all the consequences.

My point is that construction supervision is not a guarantee for success.

For example, if defects are found on the roof and the contractor refuses to cooperate, the homeowner faces an unpleasant choice: Stop construction, continue paying rent for several months, possibly not be able to move in? Or keep building and then argue endlessly afterward because the shoddy work is obviously difficult to fix…

It was just a question without judgment. Some people simply prefer it a bit darker.

Ask in the heating forum if you want advice before this gets out of hand here.

What is a crank? I don’t think that was even offered to us^^

The alternative to a strap, because some people find it more visually appealing. But as I said... I find the alternative worse. If anything, strap or electric.
