Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@bortel My preference was also for a miter joint, but unfortunately the stove installer didn’t agree. I couldn’t push it through. However, I’m pleasantly surprised now; it doesn’t bother me... and I’m usually quite picky.

@guckuck2 Yes, the color is bold. That was our choice as well. In my design, it was a bit lower, and the window was also lower, but I was talked into changing that. We’ll see how it looks when it’s finished.

@Climbee is designed only for rainwater and is too small for the size of our plot, considering @rick2018’s sump pump for comparison.

@Solveigh for garden irrigation or also toilet flushing, etc.? Why, how big is the septic tank?

When I look at our small 5,000 l (1,320 gallons) cistern, I start to feel inferior.

It doesn't look that big now. I would estimate a maximum of 10,000 liters (2,641 gallons).

I think so too, ours looked similar on the truck.
Ours has 10,400 liters (2,748 gallons). Of that, 6 cubic meters (212 cubic feet) is retention volume, the rest is usable capacity.
