I really like that someone finally chose a cozy house with sloped ceilings again.
Thanks for sharing it with us. Thank you! Yes, I love sloped ceilings and actually find them very cozy. I’m really looking forward to having my bed placed under the skylight.

(the book recommendation from @Holzhäuschen is the reason why my garden plan is becoming more and more elaborate 😉 ) I know that problem. My own garden book "consumption" does the same to me. Now I’d like to have a sunken garden and who knows what else. We’ll see. But we are leaving space on one side of the house so that a mini excavator can get through. That way, we can shape things later on as well. Of course, it would be sensible to do that before we really get started.
Well, first we need to get the house more (or less) finished.

Here is the final part of today’s photo collection, featuring the two announced "What is this?" questions. Thanks. 🙂 Regarding the second part: I haven’t seen any answers yet. It could be a fan for actively supporting screed drying even when no one is present. What’s odd is that it is currently switched off. Alternatively, it might be the pre-installed fan for conducting the airtightness test / blower door test. As the name suggests, this test is usually performed using a fan installed in a door, but it can also be done through other openings.

Well, first we have to make more progress on the house. I would leave space anyway, you never know why you might want to work in the garden later. At my parents’ place, part of the hedge had to be removed after 35 years when a new patio was added. By the way, the original patio was paved with concrete “knochensteine” (concrete bone-shaped pavers), I’d be curious who in this forum still considers that acceptable 😉
Luckily, a sunken garden will probably be unnecessary for us. The house is set back a bit anyway, and if I place the hedge on a small mound on the other side, then we almost have our sunken garden.
And here’s a quick update from my construction site. Due to lack of windows and roof tiles, progress is slow at the moment, but at least the vapor-permeable underlayment is now on, so the roof is reasonably watertight. In the next update, hopefully you’ll get to admire two buildings, because the garden shed is already sitting in a compact package in the driveway.
And my earthen mound is slowly starting to bloom 😉

I see you also have a large dirt mound. What are you planning to do with it? It still concerns me a bit, although my husband thinks the soil could be used to level the property and replace the compacted material in front of and around the house. Build a pond in front of it, cover the mound with plants, create a nice rock garden, and add a small stream. If there’s enough remaining space in the garden, I would include the mound or any soil that can’t be spread out into the overall landscaping design.

... I always consider that "acceptable." It really depends on who you’re sitting with on the terrace, not (just) what it’s paved with. My sister and her husband also paved one of their terraces like that, and parts of it have noticeably sunk after about 20 years. But some of the best gatherings take place there 😉
