Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The distance to Lake Constance should be roughly the same in both cases. But you’re actually off by a good 30km (18.6 miles) 😉

Work is progressing here as well—the electricians have been on site!
A few cables

Shell interior: red frame for wall-mounted toilet, numerous pipes and cables.

In calendar week 22, our underfloor heating will be installed.

That means finishing the installation level everywhere, insulating it, and closing it from below—with wood, double drywall sheets, or double Fermacell panels.
Here with wood

Drywall with hemp-jute insulation

Unfinished interior wall: wooden stud frame, insulation boards (mineral wool), and Intello-Plus vapor control membrane.

Fermacell

Construction room with cable mess, wall insulation, and small upper window.

We also chose our switches and sockets. For all visible ones, we are going with Busch-Jaeger Futur Linear in matte black; for the rest, something inexpensive in white.

White socket and light switch panel on wall panel; upper socket, lower black switch.

We’ve finalized and ordered the tiles for the ground floor. Since I love vegan meat substitutes as much as wood-look tiles, we chose exactly those (option number 1).

Gray wood planks numbered 1 and 3 on dark floor; red cable and water bottle next to them.

Upstairs, we now want a harder plank floor than pine or spruce. It will probably be ash, like our stairs. The first quote was 92 €/m² (only for the wood), which was a bit of a shock, but luckily we only have about 38 m² (410 sq ft) of wood up there.

And to finish, a photo taken from the skylight under which my bed will be placed

View through skylight of green forest landscape; blue safety net outside, wooden beams inside.
