Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

we also have a 30° roof pitch and are very happy with it. This gives us a large, very usable attic space,

As a rough rule of thumb, multiplying the roof pitch degrees by about 1.4 seems to be a good estimate to compensate for the space disadvantage of a hip roof compared to a gable roof.

That sounds about right. For example, I don’t have an attic at all, but I have a ceiling height of 3.5m (11.5 ft) in the center of the upper floor.
However, I also faced strict building regulations, such as a maximum height of 4.5m (14.8 ft), one full story, etc.
The one full story restriction I could have easily bypassed with a gable roof, but my wife didn’t want that. This resulted in a more complex floor plan with a 220m² (2,370 sq ft) foundation slab.
Every building has its own unique challenges.

The graphic shadows look great. Was this planned, or was it a pleasant surprise when you turned on the light for the first time?

I carefully chose the placement and selection of the lights, but yes, it was still a surprise afterwards 🙂

There’s nothing at the entrance yet, since I still have to plan my porch roof 🙂
